Pandora HealingEvery Monday at 7:15 PM: Yin Yoga with Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Sound Healing with Lynda Ferrara and Jason Wood, at Pandora Healing, 274 Lafayette Ave, Hawthorne, NJ – $15

Yin Yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. Other yin-yang polarities include cold-hot, down-up, calm-excited. In the body, the relatively stiff connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) are yin, while the more mobile and pliable muscles and blood are yang. A Yin Yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.

[My review: I’ve attended a few times, and I loved it! The combination of yin yoga (a series of long held, passive floor poses) and crystal bowls makes for a very relaxing, empowering session.]

This is a yoga class, all levels (beginners welcome), where Reiki is given to each person individually in the beginning and end of class, with the channel remaining open throughout the whole class. (Also on Meetup: The Reiki & Yoga Meetup Group of Clifton, NJ)

[My review: Some poses were a bit challenging, but Amanda offers alternatives to accommodate both beginners and more experienced yogis. I love the combination of yoga and Reiki. Empowering!]

Live Your LegendSunday, September 10, 6:30 PM: Live Your Legend September Meeting with Lou and Kelly at 4XMG Studios, 682 B Passaic Ave, Nutley, NJ – $5

As the saying goes, “If you want better answers, you’ve got to ask better questions.” With that in mind, the theme for the meeting is about asking better questions. The goal is to make this meeting a collaborative event where we open up deeper levels of conversation. Please come prepared with a question to ask the group. Some examples:

  • What is something you know you need to do that you’ve been putting off?
  • What decision have you made in the past 5 years has positively impacted your life most? What can you learn from that decision to bring into the present?
  • Who are your biggest role models?

Please think of a question of your own. Be creative and have fun! We look forward to the thoughtful, organic conversations that will come of this!

[My review: I’ve attended every month since it started, and I gained so much from it that I keep going again. The meeting starts with a theme, but it develops in its own way depending on who’s attending and what their needs are, and what everyone has to offer. Come to give as much as to receive and you’ll leave feeling fulfilled.]

“If we were as hard on other people as we are to ourselves, we’d be a HUGE asshole.” It’s the truth. We beat ourselves up for every mistake. We make ourselves feel worthless when we don’t live up to expectations. The self-judgment and self-criticism we give to ourselves is a core block to daily happiness. Even when we are thriving, we still have a lingering feeling that we should be doing more. We’re just never enough. Why is this? Where does it end? These are just a couple questions we’ll be exploring in this meditation workshop on Self-Love. Or more appropriately, Radical Self-Love. It’s time to stand up to the bully that is our own self-hatred. It’s time we move into a place of acceptance, compassion, and a deep love for our humanity. Please, come join us.

[My review: This is by far my favorite meditation group! The studio where it’s held has very good vibes (and I’m not the only one who noticed it), the guided meditation is different every time, and I always end up having amazing conversations before and after the event. Get ready to connect, meditate, and leave empowered.]

I support the mind body community by giving back my time and knowledge about my personal healing success to help others.]

4XMGWednesday, September 27, 7:30 PM: Guided Meditation: Releasing Your Worry with Lou Redmond and Kelly Margerum at 4XMG Studios, 682 B Passaic Ave, Nutley, NJ – $10 suggested donation

Our society programs us to worry and makes us feel if we’re not worrying, we’re not doing our part. It’s so backwards that we think worrying is productive! What worrying does is take us away from the present moment. It steals our joy and happiness. I love how Marianne Williamson puts it, “Worrying is like praying for the worst to happen.” Luckily, most forms of worry are habitual and like any habit, we can change it. During this event, we’ll dive into why worry is so ingrained in our society. We’ll uncover where and when it’s served us. We’ll then work to release patterns of worry that are holding us back.

[My review: This is by far my favorite meditation group! The studio where it’s held has very good vibes (and I’m not the only one who noticed it), the guided meditation is different every time, and I always end up having amazing conversations before and after the event.
